Research-based guidance and classroom activities for teachers of mathematics

Packaging

Packaging is a set of tasks from cre8ate maths that is available on the National STEM Centre eLibrary.

Spatial relations refer to how objects are located in space. Three-dimensional (3D) geometry deals with solids, including moving between 2D and 3D geometry.

This set of tasks utilises the context of packaging for commercial products to engage pupils in visualising 3D shapes from 2D starting points. They are required to measure accurately, construct accurate diagrams, and to develop their understanding of relationships between linear dimensions and volume.
