The importance of empirical research in law

Deputy Director of the Foundation Sharon Witherspoon talks to Martin Partington about why we fund empirical research in law. She explains how good research can influence the development of the law and legal policy.

Martin Partington is a barrister and academic who has held a series of university teaching appointments at Warwick, the London School of Economics, Brunel, and Bristol. He was appointed CBE in 2002; elected a Bencher of Middle Temple in 2006; and appointed an Honorary QC in 2008.

He is author of Introduction to the English Legal System, published by Oxford University Press.
